Tech Tribes Bristol has invited Jonny Tyers to speak at their November 2025 evening meetup, hosted at the Pax8 offices in Bristol. We're looking forward to joining IT professionals and business technology leaders from across the Bristol and South West tech community.
About the meetup
Tech Tribes Bristol is a community-run meetup for IT professionals in the Bristol area. The format is informal — speakers, conversation, and networking — designed to create real connections in the local tech community. Jonny has been invited to speak alongside other local practitioners on topics relevant to small and mid-size technology organisations.
What Jonny will cover
Jonny's session will look at the practical question of how engineering-led organisations build security into their processes without hiring a security team. For most organisations in the room, security tends to be either reactive — responding to incidents or audit requests — or delegated entirely to a managed service provider.
The talk will walk through what a more structured approach looks like: starting with understanding what you're actually protecting and what an attacker would want, then working through the controls that matter most given that specific context. The emphasis is on making this achievable for organisations without dedicated security headcount.
